About English Grammar Practice
English grammar is the set of rules that governs how words combine to form correct and meaningful sentences. It covers morphology — how individual words change their form (verb conjugation, plural nouns, comparative adjectives) — and syntax — how words and phrases are arranged to convey a specific meaning. Practising grammar through exercises is the most reliable way to move a rule from passive understanding to active use: you produce the correct form under real communicative pressure.
For learners following the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), grammar is organised progressively. At A2, exercises focus on the core structures of everyday English: the present simple and continuous, the past simple, future forms with will and going to, basic articles, and simple prepositions. At B1, exercises extend into the present perfect and past perfect, first and second conditionals, modal verbs, and defining relative clauses. At B2, exercises cover mixed conditionals, perfect modal forms, the future perfect, and non-defining relative clauses. At C1, learners practise complex clause structures, inversion, and advanced discourse connectors. At C2, exercises address near-native accuracy, register control, and subtle nuance across all structures.
EngQuiz.Pro organises all grammar practice around six core topics: verb tenses, articles, conditional sentences, modal verbs, prepositions, and relative clauses. Each topic has free exercises in gap-fill and multiple-choice format with instant feedback. For the full list of rules and explanations, see the Grammar Reference.
