How Grammar Exercises Work
EngQuiz.Pro offers two exercise formats. Gap-fill exercises train active production — you must recall the correct verb form, article, or preposition and type or select it under communicative pressure. This trains the kind of fluency needed in writing and speaking. Multiple-choice exercises train discrimination — you choose between three or four plausible options that differ in a meaningful grammatical way. This sharpens your ability to distinguish, for example, the present perfect from the past simple, or must from should.
Both formats provide instant feedback after each answer. When you answer incorrectly, you see the correct form alongside a brief explanation — so mistakes become learning moments rather than frustrations.
Exercises are organised into six core topics: verb tenses, articles, conditional sentences, modal verbs, prepositions, and relative clauses. Each topic has exercises at multiple CEFR levels, so you can stay at one level until you feel confident, then move up. For a structured explanation of rules before you practise, see the Grammar Reference.
