About TOEIC Business vocabulary exercises
The exercises here practise business and workplace vocabulary at B1 and B2 level. The sets are mostly gap fill, with some multiple choice. They include business nouns, action verbs, professional adjectives and workplace word families grouped by area, such as office, HR, finance, marketing and travel.
The workplace word-family sets practise how one root changes with its ending: manage, manager, management, manageable. In a gap fill, the words around the blank show the form you need. After an article such as the, expect a noun phrase. After to in an infinitive, expect a verb. Before a noun, an adjective often fits. Compare an invoice, which asks for payment, with a budget, which plans spending. Knowing the exact meaning of each noun helps when two nouns look possible. Business English often uses a small number of fixed partners, such as submit a report, meet a deadline and reach an agreement. Write two or three sentences of your own with each new word, using tasks from your own work.
